Instructions

  1. Start by heating the oil in a large pot over medium heat. Give it about a minute to get nice and hot.
  2. Drop in just three kernels and pop the lid on. This is your heat test! When all three pop, you’ll know the oil is ready.
  3. Pour in the rest of your kernels and quickly cover the pot with a lid. Keep the lid slightly ajar to let some steam escape — this helps your popcorn stay extra crunchy!
  4. Once the popping begins to slow down, give the pot a gentle shake now and then to help the unpopped kernels hit the heat evenly.
  5. When the popping stops for a few seconds, turn off the heat and immediately transfer the popcorn to a large bowl.
  6. Toss with a bit of salt (or any favorite seasoning) while it’s still warm and dig in!

Ubee's tips & notes

  • Leave a slight gap when placing the lid to let some steam escape while popping. This prevents soggy popcorn.
